Trinus Technologies works with Royal Canadian Mounted Police on the G8 Summit Security Joint Intelligence Group, using dtSearch in the Information Management Section
|
Attending the 2002 G8 Summit Conference
in Alberta, Canada were Prime Minister Chretien
(Canada), President Putin (Russia), Prime Minister
Blair (UK) and President Bush (US), as well as
heads of state from France, Germany, Italy and
Japan. "Trinus Technologies was contracted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to provide on-site support for the G8 Summit Security Joint Intelligence Group (G8 JIG) information management section. In essence, we were tasked with providing the technical infrastructure and information management systems for the G8 JIG. Ten months of work culminated in the G8 Summit Conference held at the end of June 2002 in Alberta. The event, from an intelligence investigation perspective, was a resounding success." "At it's height, we had upwards of 90 users processing and accessing information simultaneously across Canada over a SECURE network. Users included RCMP intelligence investigators, analysts, senior management, and a contingent of 20 U.S. and International Law Enforcement partners." "All documents were converted to PDF format with text (OCR'd) content and placed in our 'Data Warehouse.' We made extensive use of a previously-proven relational database system to track persons, groups, and activities of interest. Reports were periodically processed (PDF'd) from the database system and amalgamated into the 'Data Warehouse.'" "We used dtSearch in a web configuration as the main search tool for users. In addition, to an 'all encompassing' main index, several sub-indexes were maintained that focused on specific 'information areas of interest.' We developed a secure web site that allowed users 'qualified audited' access to the Data Warehouse. The main functions of the site were search and browse." "The search functions as provided by this system proved to be an integral and vital part of the success of the G8 JIG. With a minimum of instruction, users were able to perform sophisticated searches in a familiar web environment. This kept user support issues to a minimum. System performance, from both a 'server' and 'client' perspective, was predictable and excellent."
