IDMS Develops Translator Add-On to dtSearch Web, Enabling Display of Original (source) and Translated (target) Texts Side-By-Side with Highlighted Hits Using the dtSearch document filters and searching, the solution enables instant searching (with over 25 search options) of terabytes of a wide range of translated offline and online data
dtSearch Web can instantly search terabytes of data consisting of a wide range of document types, emails and attachments, and web-ready data. These products provide over 25 search options, including special forensics options. The products further support all Unicode-based international languages, both in terms of searching and in terms of retrieved document and other data display with highlighted hits. What dtSearch Web is not set up for, however, is to "pair" original (source) and translated (target) versions of the full document and display them side-by-side with highlighted hits. That is where the IDMS solution comes in. "We picked dtSearch for our customers because search query and results loading were instantaneous," explains Philippe Leonhart of IDMS. “Particularly as Canada is a bilingual nation, side-by-side retrieval of original and translated texts can also be helpful in search results review. For example, a major Canadian financial institution elected to use dtSearch Web with our translation add-ons. Now every day they wonder ‘how did we manage before?’” By adding an option for customizable document pair detection, IDMS enabled this additional bilingual display feature. In fact, the IDMS pairing engine can not only simultaneously display the source and target (translated) documents, it can display them aligned on paragraph boundaries, with hits highlighted in both documents. "Both IDMS and dtSearch bring to the table extensive experience working with large multinational companies and other international organizations," says Nadia Beresford of RCC Consulting, which resells the dtSearch product line in Canada. "The new IDMS solution will be a major boon to translators and other enterprises that operate in a multilingual environment."
