Contegra Adds dtSearch to Housing Web Site
|
The Urban Homesteading Assistance Board (UHAB) promotes self-help housing and community building in low-income neighborhoods and supports the nation's largest network of resident-controlled, limited-equity housing co-operatives in New York City. UHAB works with more than 1,000 buildings in the city, the tenant leaders of which have widely varying levels of experience. UHAB is charged with providing technical assistance to its network's buildings, but its paper documentation--including management agreements, building maintenance books and course catalogs — was expensive to produce and disseminate broadly. These documents were often difficult to find in different offices and buildings around the city. In addition, some of the buildings' leadership and tenants required documents in Spanish and other languages and had relatively limited English language skills. Contegra converted all UHAB’s paper and electronic files into a universal HTML format and created a comprehensive Web site featuring the complete collection of UHAB documents. The resulting solution enables tenants to locate important building information quickly and easily, and puts a system in place for delivering updates and new documents efficiently. As a search engine for the site, Contegra chose dtSearch. "We chose the dtSearch Engine because of its features and functionality," said Rob Wiesenberg, President, Contegra Systems. "dtSearch integrated very well with our taxonomy and online navigation."
