AppsPlus Embeds dtSearch in IRS.GOV WIZARD Site
|
AppsPlus has years of experience in database development. As a Microsoft MVP, AppsPlus specializes in Windows and web-based programming. The president of AppsPlus, F. Scott Barker, has written multiple books on programming. AppsPlus has been working with the dtSearch Text Retrieval Engine for nearly a decade. AppsPlus’ client created a web site that could be used to search the IRS web site and other relevant sites. “Once again the dtSearch Engine comes through for the needs of my clients,” says Mr. Barker of AppsPlus. “Fairly quickly we had the website up and running using ASP.NET and C#. And the Spider API added no more overhead than usual. In fact, using the dtSearch Engine Spider APIs, I found it could perform a phenomenal amount of work with minimal programming.” Using the dtSearch Engine Spider and other .NET APIs, Mr. Barker created a simple interface, while providing users with three different search variations for optimal user convenience. Adds Mr. Barker: “Once the search is done, displaying the documents is easy. Again using the .NET object model for the dtSearch Engine, the site brings back the results, displaying them in simple list, and let’s Adobe handle the display, with hits highlighted, for PDFs.” AppsPlus’ clients for software development include industries ranging from the government, insurance, banking, medical analysis — even projects for Microsoft. Mr. Barker, a former Microsoftie, is the author of a multiple books published by SAMS and Wrox Publishing on programming techniques, including Wrox’s C# Express Starter Kit.
