Web-Based Multi-City Guide Embeds dtSearchA multi-city guide needed a search engine to search content such as restaurants, arts, theater, etc. The development team chose the dtSearch Engine.

“The dtSearch Engine provided enough flexibility to work in the complex environment of our Web Server farm and within the context of other COM objects used by our system,” said Michael Uffer, currently of dev408, who worked on the site. An XML format provided advanced categorization of data such as location of event, price, date, etc.

“The dtSearch Engine interfaces were straightforward and easy to work with. Their native support for XML made indexing simple and efficient,” said Mr. Uffer. Mr. Uffer used the dtSearch Engine to index this data so users could find events and articles easily. Users could also narrow their searches by having the system build more complex queries based on context.

“The dtSearch technical staff was helpful in implementation from the issues of information design to complex COM programming issues,” added Mr. Uffer. “Their responses were timely and thorough. They were there when we needed them.”
